Hi friends,
I know it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted, and I wanted to check in and share a little about what’s been going on.
Since December 20th, I’ve been recovering from a broken finger. Now, that might not sound like a huge deal to most people—but this injury is on my very spastic hand, and it has affected my entire body. To put it simply… it has really pissed my CP off.
It has also made things as simple as typing and dressing incredibly difficult, which is the reason I’ve been so quiet lately.
For the past 10 long weeks, my finger was immobilized in a splint. If you know anything about cerebral palsy, you know that when one part of the body is thrown off, everything else tends to follow. It’s been frustrating, exhausting, and honestly a bit discouraging at times.
The good news? I’ve been out of the splint for about two weeks now, and I just started therapy this week. I’m hopeful that with time, patience, and a lot of hard work, my finger will begin to bend and move again.
Even in the middle of all of that, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at Disability Advocacy Day at the Statehouse on March 4th. I spoke about the importance of Home and Community-Based Services—something that is deeply personal to me and so many others in the disability community. It was an honor to use my voice in that space and advocate for the resources that allow people with disabilities to live full, independent lives.
And while the past few months have been challenging, I’m really excited about what’s ahead. I have some very exciting things happening in April, and I cannot wait to share more with you all… so stay tuned!
Thank you for sticking with me, for your patience, and for always supporting this journey.
More soon 💛
