Capitol Hill, Ready or Not.

Tomorrow, I head to Washington, D.C. for the NCIL Conference, and I couldn’t be more excited.

This isn’t a vacation. It’s a chance to stand alongside advocates from across the country who believe that people with disabilities deserve to live full, independent lives. It’s an opportunity to make our voices heard where it matters most.

Monday will be filled with workshops, learning from others, and gaining new tools to bring back home. Tuesday, we’ll march to the Capitol and participate in a rally, reminding our leaders that disability rights are civil rights and that our community deserves to be seen, heard, and valued.

Then comes Wednesday—the day I’ll spend on Capitol Hill meeting with senators and their staff. I’ll be sharing my story, talking about the issues that impact millions of Americans with disabilities, and advocating for policies that create real, lasting change. Every conversation matters. Every story has the power to open hearts and influence decisions.

I’d love to ask for your prayers this week. Please pray for safe travels, God’s protection over everyone attending, and for a smooth, enjoyable trip. Please also pray that the senators and their staff won’t just hear our words—but truly listen. Pray that they will better understand the barriers people with disabilities face every day and be moved to take action.

Advocacy isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. I’m honored to represent South Carolina and our disability community, and I’m believing this week will make a difference.

Washington, D.C.—here we come.
